Effective Solutions

Energy

01

Electric and gas make up a large overhead expense for most industries and are major contributors to carbon emissions. Holistic Utility Solutions helps you streamline processes and select efficient technologies to reduce costs and increase your return on investment (ROI).

Energy Efficiency

Reducing your energy consumption is one of the best ways to reduce cost and increase sustainability. We optimize the major energy users such as lighting, HVAC, building envelope, and process loads to reduce cost through equipment upgrades, improved controls, and system commissioning.

Energy Procurement & Demand Response

While there are many energy brokers in deregulated markets, our team has extensive experience and a unique understanding of both the energy market and solar strategies to create an optimized, comprehensive approach to procuring energy. We also consider energy storage and Demand Response strategies to reduce your Demand based costs as well.

Master Plans, Energy Audits, & Benchmarking

Manage your facilities proactively and ensure no single strategy conflicts with another. We’ll help you create practical road-maps to your future with energy and sustainability master plans. Holistic can also help your organization meet compliance to any mandatory energy benchmarking and reporting laws in your city.

Sustainability

02

As companies embrace environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards and corporate social responsibility (CSR) concerns, we partner with you to develop and implement comprehensive plans that reduce carbon emissions through cost-effective solutions. These may include decarbonization, on-site renewables, and water reduction.

We help you navigate these complexities to meet your goals on time and on budget.

Commercial Solar

On-site commercial solar is a key part of a good sustainability strategy. Besides having a high-carbon reduction impact, solar typically has a strong ROI.

Your optimal system size and design depends on your geography, available incentives, and local utility policies. We optimize these factors to give you a safe, reliable system at the best possible price.

Utility Scale Solar

Whether a small community solar array or large utility-scale system, large properties can often benefit from installing acres of ground-mount solar to feed their facilities and sell power to other off-takers.

Navigating the complexity of land use, permitting, interconnection, and financing on these large systems is more than most landowners are prepared for on their own. Our team of expert solar designers and developers make sure your project maximizes your return while preserving your land for generations to come.

Battery Storage

As electrical grid infrastructure ages and demand increases, reliability of the grid has become an increasing concern. Battery storage systems, whether installed at the facility or utility-scale level, provide a viable solution.

If you have land near a substation and want to maximize revenue from a utility-scale system or own a facility and are concerned about grid reliability, we help navigate the design, contract negotiation, and ongoing optimization for these advanced systems.

ESG Strategy & Reporting

Our services streamline sustainability reporting for facility owners, ensuring compliance with key frameworks like CDP, GRESB, and SASB.

We offer comprehensive data collection, analysis, and reporting solutions to help you meet regulatory requirements, enhance transparency, and improve environmental performance.

Water & Wastewater

03

We help both water utilities and facility owners limit water leaks and losses.

For water utilities, we provide water-loss analysis, leak detection, rate studies, smart meter planning and implementation, district metered areas, wastewater plant energy efficiency, and more.

For property owners, we provide smart irrigation, low-flow fixtures, leak detection, and ongoing data analytics.

Water-Loss Reduction

Water lost due to leaks is a major concern for both water utilities and facility owners. Through analysis of smart meter data, submetering, acoustic leak detection, and other advanced strategies we quantify the consumption and cost associated with real and apparent water loss.

AMI Conversions

Advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), also referred to as a smart metering system, is a rapidly expanding technology that all utilities should consider. We specialize in understanding the myriad of manufacturers and technologies.

We help water utilities quantify the water/sewer revenue recapture and productivity gains from a conversion, select the best technology and provider, and oversee procurement and implementation. After a successful conversion, we can stay engaged to help you maximize the benefits of the AMI data to drive down water loss and maximize customer satisfaction.

Smart Irrigation

Seventy percent of commercial facility water use is irrigation and half of that is wasted. Thankfully, we have a solution.

We partner with the leading manufacturers in smart irrigation and design to implement technology that minimizes water use. Systems consider plant need, soil type, watering restrictions, and more to increase the health of your landscape while minimizing your cost.

Wastewater Efficiency

Municipalities with wastewater treatment plants often spend about 50% of their energy budget in this one area. We help minimize energy cost through improvements to aeration systems, pump motors, and SCADA controls. This also helps with capacity constraints, regulatory compliance, and permitting for your plant.

Financing & Incentive

04

Energy and sustainability initiatives often benefit from federal, state, and utility-level financial incentives. We’ve helped clients capture millions of dollars in incentives and are experts in finding ways to reduce your net project cost.

Grants & Rebates

Government agencies and utilities often have grants and rebates available to incentivize energy efficiency. We partner with you to submit grant applications and carefully manage the project implementation process to ensure all requirements are met for a successful incentive capture. Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program and utility rebates are two of our favorite strategies.

Tax Credits & Deductions

The current federal investment tax credit covers anywhere from 24% to 70%+ of project cost as a direct offset to tax liability. Energy and solar investments also qualify for depreciation benefits under Section 179D and other tax codes.

Navigating the domestic content, wage, and labor requirements and other components of these incentives can be cumbersome. We can recommend what makes sense for your project and ensure you meet each step to maximize incentives.

Low-Interest Loans

When interest rates are high, programs that offer below-market rates provide a significant savings over the life of a project.

Public sector programs through state energy offices or other agencies often offer rates of 0% to 3%. Capturing these savings may involve paperwork, process, studies, and more, but we help you every step of the way.

PACE Financing

PACE (Property Assessed Clean Energy) financing offers commercial property owners access to funds for energy efficiency and renewable energy upgrades with repayment through property-tax assessments. This allows longer finance terms and easier transfer upon sale.

We streamline the PACE process by identifying eligible projects, managing the application, and ensuring compliance, ultimately enhancing property value and reducing energy costs.

Delivery

05

We built our company to flex our delivery so we can center on what is best for you. We focus first on the best solution and then hone in on how we can support you. This keeps our attention on your needs rather than trying to fit your goals into a delivery method that suits us.

Consulting

Whether you just need a water-loss study, third-party review, or energy audit, we offer fixed-price or hourly consulting services to manage specific tasks.

Construction Management

If you’re taking on an energy, solar, or water project of $500K or more, we can save you money while ensuring your project is completed on-time and on-budget and performs long term.

Turnkey Delivery

If you prefer the ease of a single contract, we can include development, design, and implementation. This works well for smaller projects under $2M, but we can also bond and deliver larger public sector projects.

Managed Services

If you need ongoing support to supplement your in-house staff or take care of a certain utility-rated function on a fractional basis, consider our managed services approach. We typically structure these as 1- to 3-year contracts with defined deliverables and metrics. This may include fractional energy managers, data analytics, ongoing reporting, and similar strategies.

Project Development

For large ($10M+), complex projects like utility-scale solar or multifaceted energy and water initiatives, we can serve as project developers. This often includes preliminary due diligence, budgetary estimates, permitting and zoning, financing, contract negotiation, and construction management.
